Time is flying by and AzMerit is almost here. What a great way for students to be involved in their test prepping than to create a game to help themselves and their classmates study. Students will create a game that will be made to help them review different skills they have learned throughout the year. Here you will find the purpose, directions, and some examples. There is also a list of reading and math skills for students to choose from. The Brainstorm section of the project is due Thursday, March 7, 2019 so that it may be approved and sent home for spring break. This includes the brainstorm questions, game questions and answers, and the game sketch. The game guide section, along with the game will be due March 27th, 2019. This includes the game guide ( object, materials, set up, winning, play), the answer key, the reflection, and the game. Friday, March 1, 2019 DRESS DOWN DAY

In ELA, Unit 5 is focusing on technology innovation. Students will be learning about advancements in technology to understand the value of innovation. Over the next 3 weeks at home, students are to research a famous inventor (they've already picked) to complete a report and present it at the end of the unit. Reports are due February 4th and presentation times will be forthcoming. Thanks in advance for all your help and support in our first home project. Here is what will be included in the report as well as the breakdown of the points. First, students should read and annotate the mini book. Then write a 2-3 sentence reflection on what they've learned. Students should read more than once to practice fluency and retain information they may have missed the first read. On this Circle Organizer students will write facts they've learned about their inventor. On this Square Organizer students will write facts they've learned about their inventor. On this page students will answer comprehension questions about their inventor. On this Comparison Organizer students research another inventor to compare and contrast to their inventor. Books on other inventors can be read during the school day on Epic. Or use the Inventor QR codes. FOR BONUS POINT!!! Use the QR codes to explore website and watch videos on your inventor or find your a kid friendly website to fill in the video sheet for bonus points. Use the report guide to help you with writing the report. For the presentation, your students will be creating a file folder representation of the report. Color the front cover or design your own. Write an acrostic poem using words that describe your inventor. Use your report guide to write an essay about your inventor. Then use pipe cleaners and other materials to create your inventor. If you have any other questions, please email. The whole project and presentations are Due Monday, February 4th.
We love homework! We will use homework to practice skills learned in class. We will have homework every Monday through Thursday. Remember to have your students read for 15 minutes each night. Homework can be found in your child's 3rd quarter Agenda. Each day there will be a grammar or vocabulary piece to do. Students can also practice cursive . Then there will be a weekly article or text. Students will have the four days to read, annotate, record details, and answer comprehension questions.
There will also be math practice every day. This month we are working on finding the area of rectangles. If you have any questions about homework, please feel free to email. Seasons Greetings!
